We are celebrating our 30th anniversary! In the course of this milestone year, we have several long-term projects coming to fruition, along with others that are at various stages of preparation. Meanwhile, our backlist continues to grow, as we maintain our policy of cultivating important relevant titles from the past.
Journeys, Encounters: Clinical, Communal, Cultural was the title of the 17th Triannual International Jungian Congress in Cape Town. The Proceedings, edited by Pramila Bennett, come in a combination printed/cd-form.
The fascinating paintings of Swiss painter Peter Birkhäuser were hanging on the walls of the old Jung Institute and in some privileged practices when I first arrived in Zürich in the 1970’s. In the meantime, his daughter Eva Wertenschlag, a Jungian analyst, has put together an impressive biographical excursion through his life and his works. Presented in an over-sized hard-bound volume filled with color plates,
Windows on Eternity illustrates how devotedly Birkhäuser honored his inner relationship.
The Black Madonna of Einsiedeln is our village’s most famous inhabitant and nearly all who visit our offices pay homage to her. Now the work of Fred Gustafson, who chose this theme as his diploma thesis at the Zürich Jung Institute in the 1970’s, has been updated and is available in a new book bearing this title.
Australian writer and lecturer David Tacey of LaTrobe University is a friend of our house, a frequent visitor to Switzerland and often teaches at the Jung Institute. His latest writings on the subject of the soul of Nature are gathered in his book,
Edge of the Sacred: Jung, Psyche, Earth.
One of the historic landmarks of the Zürich of Jung’s time is the Burghölzli Psychiatric Clinic, where he was assistant to Eugen Bleuler for nearly a decade. Daniel Hell was the innovative Director of this renowned institution until January of this year, and he has gathered his ideas under the title of Soul-Hunger. The original publication in German was enthusiastically received in Europe.
The Enchantment of Gardens is a popular subject both in outer life and in the world of the psyche. Zürich analyst Ruth Ammann, who is also President of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST, has compiled images, experiences and insights from her long career as a therapist.
As a companion to her popular book about dream groups,
Threads, Knots, Tapestries, Dallas analyst Tess Castleman has now prepared a practical handbook, Sacred Dream Circles. She is a Board and Faculty Member of the Zurich Institute.
Continuing our collaboration with the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, we are pleased to present
Varieties of Mythic Experience, Essays on Religion, Psyche and Culture, edited by Dennis Slattery and Glen Slater of the Pacifica faculty.
Our ties with the
Living Human Heritage and the
Eranos Foundation
are ongoing and new titles continue to become available. We are the European distributor for the American publishers
Chiron, Spring, Spring Journal
and
Parabola.
We look forward to continuing with works that serve the daimon, the inner voice in each of us.
Robert Hinshaw, Publisher
